The College of Humanities, Education and Social Science

Your support of Gannon University's College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences will make possible the essential work of transforming lives by leading students on an exploration of the human experience in a rapidly changing world.

Built on the foundation of 2,000 years of Catholic Intellectual Tradition, students and faculty of the College build a way to think about our most pressing moral, legal and ethical challenges.

You can help us to nurture a vital community of learners that values social justice and welcomes students from many backgrounds and many nations. In this community, young minds are opened and encouraged to ask the big questions and to think deeply about who we are and how we are to live.

A Century of Momentum, A Century of Opportunity

Gannon University's first century has been marked by remarkable growth and continued strength. As we face the challenges and opportunities of our second century, the support of donors like you, who believe in our mission, inspire bold opportunities, and transform the lives of those around them can secure our success as a national University, and put an indelible mark on history. Every time the University has faced uncertainty, whether by pandemic, war or economic downturn, leaders like you have stepped forward to ensure the University's future. At the dawn of our second century, we invite you to join this select company.

With your help, we will raise $100 million to advance Gannon University's programs and people to greater heights of impact and influence.

Together we can build an outstanding future the way we’ve always done it – the Gannon way.

From Dean Lori Lindley, Ph.D.

Anniversaries are occasions that invite us to look both backward and forward in time. As Gannon University approaches a centennial, a look backward is a reminder that this institution was founded squarely in the tradition of a liberal education that finds its home in the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences.

As the College's dean, I am both an heir to and a steward of this tradition. This is a great honor and a great responsibility.

So is the work of elevating Gannon University to the ranks of premier liberal arts universities in the region. We're well on our way, as we have been for nearly 100 years, and we have the strengths and resources to fashion an institution that welcomes and inspires diverse students to value learning and social justice.

Won't you help us reach our goal and set a standard of excellence that will be an inspiration for the next 100 years?

Thank you.

Lori Lindley, Ph.D. Dean

BELIEVE in the future of the College

We have a vision for the future of the College of Humanities, Education and Social Science.

This vision includes a rich student experience that will make the College a preferred destination for students seeking a national-class education in the liberal arts tradition that the University's founders established.

This experience is built on a foundation of academic excellence guided by faculty recognized for being outstanding in their respective fields and delivered on an expanding urban campus that is a major driver of Erie's resurgent urban core.

Belief leads to action, and action leads to impact. Thanks to your generosity, the future of the College can be supported by a robust network of scholarships and endowments that maximize students’ learning experiences and foster an environment where students are supported and mentored to pursue their own possibilities.

INSPIRE visionary change

Every day, we tell our students to dream big dreams, to take bold action. We invite you to do this too.

While every initiative at Gannon University is worthy of support, you can make your mark on the future of the College by supporting a program or project that is most important to you.

Whether by an endowment to fund scholarships in a discipline that was transformative in your life or a through a more general contribution in support of the College, a philanthropic contribution to Gannon University's Next Century Campaign–of any amount–really does make a powerful difference in the lives of current and future Knights.

Your gift is also an act of leadership that encourages others to give to the College. Through matching contribution offered by the many grantmaking organizations that support Education, the Humanities and Social Sciences, the impact of your generosity is powerfully leveraged.
