Gannon Ranked as a Top National University by U.S. News & World Report

Gannon University was again ranked as a national university for the fifth consecutive year, according to the U.S. News & World Report’s release of “2024 America’s Best Colleges.”

U.S. News ranked Gannon 260th out of 439 national universities. The university was ranked 263rd out of 443 in the previous year’s report. National universities are those that offer a full range of undergraduate majors, in addition to master’s and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates. 

The U.S. News & World Report also ranked Gannon in the following categories with recognitions for undergraduate nursing and engineering programs:

183rd out of 273 in Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs
Gannon’s engineering programs were recognized among the top in the nation for institutions that have ABET-accredited programs and whose highest engineering degree offered is a bachelor's or master's. 

472ndout of 656 in Nursing
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Gannon was deemed a top program by U.S. News and was ranked among institutions that have bachelor’s-level accreditation by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and have recently awarded at least 40 BSN degrees. 

287th out of 554 in Computer Science Programs
Gannon’s Computer Science programs were recognized among the top in the nation for institutions that have ABET-accredited programs and who have awarded at least 20 bachelor’s degrees in computer science in 2020-2021. These rankings are based solely on the judgments of deans and senior faculty members of computer science departments at institutions around the country who participated in a peer assessment survey.

261stout of 434 in Top Performers on Social Mobility
U.S. News defined this category as focusing on institutions who are successful at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of economically disadvantaged students who are awarded with Pell Grants and are considered less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for other characteristics.

Additionally, the U.S. News & World Report announced the 2023-2024 Best Graduate Schools, ranking Gannon in the following categories:

  • 81st for best nursing-anesthesia schools
  • 129th for best occupational therapy programs
  • 168th for best physical therapy programs
  • 85th for best physician assistant programs
